Overview:
We specialise in all aspects of Criminal law and appear in all courts including the Magistrates court, Youth court, District and Supreme Courts.
We also appear at specialist board hearings.
We conduct bail applications, trials, guilty pleas, and appeals.
A lot of our clients matters resolve without the need for a lengthy court process as we are often able to negotiate a favourable outcome with either the Police Prosecution or the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
We aim to resolve your matter as quickly as possible while still protecting your interests. Your case may be able to be resolved sooner through our effective negotiations including:
- Withdrawal of the charge
- Payment of compensation
- Intervention orders
You may be summonsed (written notice issued to you) or arrested and bailed to appear in court. You may also be remanded in custody to appear in court. If any of these scenarios occur we advise that you contact us immediately.
After hours only- 04 1277 8890 / 04 2564 6674
If you receive a summons to appear in court we can arrange a solicitor to attend court on your behalf without the need for your attendance thereby allowing you to continue work or family commitments.
If you are on bail you must attend court. Following your first attendance we can apply to the court to vary your bail or request that you be excused from attending further hearings.
In the event you have been remanded in custody we can apply to the court for your release on bail.
In the Criminal Law people are presumed to be innocent unless proved guilty. The prosecution must prove someone guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
Imprisonment and criminal convictions can have a devastating effect on people’s lives. Convictions can significantly hinder a person in maintaining/obtaining employment as well prevent them from travel and entering certain countries.
At Almeida + Associates we vigorously and fearlessly defend our clients, examining their case with precise detail, ensuring every avenue has been explored and our clients’ rights are protected.
If required, we also can arrange and work closely together with Adelaide’s leading criminal barristers including Queen’s Counsel and Senior Counsel.
If you are charged or about to be charged with a criminal offence you should contact us as a matter of urgency.
